What Are You Pursuing?

By  |  9 Comments
We as humans chase after a lot of material things to validate ourselves and remind ourselves that we are relevant, or to show that we belong to the cliche of people who really matter. Looking back at some of the most influential people on earth (money-wise), majority of them died without taking even the least of their valued possession with them. What then is this earthly goods we strive for? That even some kill for? Vanity upon vanity? Like a wise man once said!? Why labor then to attain so much? What is the purpose of your earthly presence? Why are you here? The Earth isn't your storage of wealth; because how can you labor so much, store up so much , houses, , diamonds, money in different accounts, and yet cannot cross over to the heavens with any? Just a little pair of diamond earrings cannot even cross over with you? Why? The earth is for you to solely do the will of God, help the needy and poor, spread the good-news of the the gospel, finish your course, then cross over to the heavens to enjoy the real essence of your labor here on earth. that is the case, why then aren't most people looking forward to go to heaven? Why are they so stuck on the temporary things, this temporary place, that even the wealthiest left without taking their most cherished valuables with them? Even money wasted on this temporary body isn't worth it. Michael Jackson spent so much on his body with multiple plastic surgeries, yet his body turned to dust, which tells me, the thousands of dollars or millions of dollars spent went to the ground empty. Find your purpose on earth, do it with all diligence, complete your assignment, help the poor and needy, widows and orphans, then cross over to heaven and rest from all your labor. That should be our utmost goal. At least in heaven, there is only one landlord, God...who happens to be your Father/Creator/Maker. As we know a father will never give you less than what He has, so you're sure of a home without mortgage or rent, surplus of food without paying for it (if we are allowed to eat in heaven), and you get to wear your finest bespoke outfits that fits your body until eternity (phew... no more worries about weight gain or loss. Lol). Also you will enjoy peace eternal, where there is no terminal or "un-terminal" diseases. Don't you want that kind of rest? Therefore, stop pursuing the temporaries and start pursuing the Eternals. Happy New Week! Debbie Kuks ©2015 Debbie Kuks Words All Rights Reserved www.debbiekuks.com Facebook: Debbie Kuks. Once again, i can’t quantify how happy i’m to have read this today. Just yesterday in church, our reverend father talked about this same vane quest for materialism and consumeralism that leads no where but to self damnation and perdition. He gave the classic story of Alexander the Great who at the age of 32 had already conquered the entire world and there was nothing he could have asked for again at that point, but then he fell gravely sick and on his sick bed, he called for all his army generals, friends and all who he had shared the same glory with in the past and then he told them his dying wish and he told them that on the day of his burial, they should ensure one of his hands remain hanging and visible from his casket so that the entire world would know, that here was a man who had conquered the world, yet he was taking nothing to the grave. How sad the story of his life was! This is how many of us should also view our lives here on earth and know that the actual gain is not here but in heaven.
