The Kritikal Buzz with Damilola & Xplizitsouljah

Davido ft DJ Arafat- Naughty When I hit play on this video, My first impressions are, "this beat is sick!" Immediately the beat drops I'm intrigued to finish the video. 'Naughty' video doesn't have a storyline or plot to it, which might make you think it's a pointless video?, but for those 3.29 minutes it keeps your eyes glued to your screen due to the interesting selection of video ....., particularly the girl in the sexy Black catsuit....Quite stunning! I have to admit, Without DJ Arafat, I would not be that impressed with this video, but Arafat brings his Ivory Coast swag when he raps his verse in French. That one verse contribution is what makes this video & song stand out from being 'just another club track'. Sesan tried with this visuals but it's nothing new or unique, so All in All, I rate this video 6/10. Damilola For me when I started with the video, I must admit I watched the whole video out of curiosity because it wasn't as engaging as expected and to be very honest, dj Arafat and the video models kept me watching as was totally lost to me in the whole mix both on the song and in the video. Davido came across as more of a cameo than as a main act. I assume the with the cleavages were supposed to help drive home the idea of the song 'Naughty' but to be honest they were irrelevant giving that the video was more of a dance video than anything else. All in all DJ Arafat made both the song and the video. 5/10 is my rating of this. A themed video would have been nice. Xplizitsouljah Remi ft BlackMagic - Open Up Your Heart This was my first time listening to Remi. I have to say I am impressed, not by the video, but by the lyrics and meaning of the song. The cute and catchy lyrics he offers are effective and tell a story about a guy trying to move from the dreaded 'Friend Zone' to the 'Lovers zone'. The video shows a pretty girl (Nayo) which Remi is trying to convince to go 'further' with him. However, what confuses me is why BlackMagic then comes to start caressing and singing to the very same girl?? Who then goes off with him instead of Remi? Surely they could have gotten another female model to be the object of BlackMagic's affections? However it soon became clear that this was the typical story of 'bad boys get the girls and good boys are nicely put in the friend zone' What I do like about this video is the comical aspect of it; when Remi begins to school us on how to tell if you are in the 'Friend Zone' or 'Brother Zone', which is well demonstrated. You can tell that it is a budget video by some of the props that are used, and the very basic background settings with very few scene changes. However, due to the cheeky lyrics, and comical aspect, overall I give 'Open Up Your Heart' a rating of 6/10. Damilola Remi and blackmagic go head to head in this video vying for the heart of a girl. As usual the bad boy wins in person of blackmagic. That simple scene scores the idea of the song and is quite memorable. I like that the director does a good job of keeping it simple and classy. So it's neither a boring nor clichéd video. I'd say funky fresh and I do agree that budget may have played a role so it could have been better for sure but kudos to Remi because is still nice enough to go pound for pound with any other videos on rotation at the moment. It's a 7/10 for this material from me. Xplizitsouljah

The lyric of any video is very important bcos of the message its normally send across to the people.Once the lyric and those dancing in the video doesnt send across any message then the video is not irrelevant to the people.

It was difficult for me to get the storyline of the video that is if the video had a storyline. To me that made the video not interesting as they were just dancing randomly.

It is always importamt to have a clearer lyrics because that is what normally makes people to understand what message the singer is trying to send but in this case i think they were just dancing to the tune of the music

The lyrics of any video is very important because of the message its normally pass across to the people.Once the lyrics and those dancing in the video doesnt pass across any messages to the populace then the video is nothing ,irrelevant and a sham. That is why it is very difficult for some musicians to make waves in the music industry bcos they dont take their time to plan, write songs, and produce good video. My candid advice to them is that it is better they take their time to plan the songs and video and not coming up with anything in the name of singing.
