Health issue has become a principal subject matter, nowadays than ever before. When considering a person's state of , it does not matter if the person is of high or low class in the society, black or white, tall or short, enlightened/literate or an illiterate, et al. Health matter has become something of great importance and we all need to deal with it respectively and accordingly.
As we are presently experiencing global degeneration /deterioration in health matters. I will implore all of us to adopt some easy measures in making sure we stay and fit. Some people think it is rather extortionate to enjoy good health. They think good health is unimaginable or even an unachievable task. I call that a fatalistic view that holds many back from improving their health and leading a more productive life.
No matter what your financial situation may look like or your social class. However, these are very inconsequential in ensuring, improving, enhancing and achieving a quality state of health.
As the saying goes: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure (keeping a problem from happening is better than fixing it after it happens). I will quickly take you through some basic key points, that are helping me to maintain a healthy state of mind and physical look. ** Eating whole, fresh food, instead of modern processed foods. Commercially prepackaged foods and fast food from chain restaurants, usually contain high levels of sugar, salt, and fat. This can cause heart disease, stroke, cancer and other serious diseases. Try steaming, baking and broiling your food instead of frying. Use more herbs and spices to cut down on salt. Eat plenty of vegetables. Cut down on meat and if you must eat meat cook it properly and never eat spoiled food.
Never eat too much. The world health organization reports a dangerous worldwide increase in overweight and obese people; are as a result of over eating.
Drinking plenty of water and unsweetened liquids everyday can aid digestion, cleanse your body of poisons, give you a healthy skin glow and promote weight loss. ** By taking care of the basic body needs: We all love our body, getting enough rest, as the saying goes: “better is a handful of rest then a double handful of hard work and striving after the wind”. Extreme greed for wealth and material gain in this present age have whittled away at the time people spend sleeping and relaxing their muscles. Sleep is essential to good health. Studies have shown that during sleep, our body and brain repair themselves, our memory and our mood. We must stop bypassing sleep with sweets, caffeine, and other stimulants. Adults need at least eight hours of sleep every night to look, feel and perform their best, while young people need more sleep. Sleep deprived teens are more prone to have psychological troubles and to fall asleep when driving. Sleep is essential when we are sick because it helps the body overcome diseases such as cold, fatigue and stress. ** Exercising and Sporting: Of all the things we can do to improve our health, physical exercise is the most important of them all. I believe that if exercise were a pill, it would be the most widely prescribed medication of all times. Jogging, brisk walking, biking and taking part in active sports are some of the good ways to getting one's heart beating faster, while circulating oxyen to the right vessels. Execising and sporting regularly can also cause one to break sweat that can improve one's endurance and help to prevent heart attack and stroke.
Leading a physical active life can help us feel happier, think clearly, be more productive , preserve more energy and keep us fit at all times.
Simply using one's feet instead of a car or waiting for a lift, or taking the stairs instead of an elevator can be a good start. Exercise is beneficial for people of all ages and membership into an expensive gym is not required after all.
As a parent, I encourage my children to participate in physical play, and outdoor games whenever possible. Such activities strengthen their bodies and help them to develop whole body coordination in ways that sedentary such as video games cannot.
Exercise needs not to be painful, rigorous or extreme before a beneficial result can be achieved , regular periods of moderate exercise several times a week can be very beneficial. ** Taking simple protective steps: About 85 percent of infections are contracted through unclean hands. Simply by washing your hands before eating or before preparing a meal, or dressing a wound and also after touching an animal, using the toilet or changing baby diapers can help prevent the spread of infection and also keep us healthy and well. It's generally best and more effective to wash your hands with soap and water, than using alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Bathing everyday and keeping your clothes and bed linens fresh and clean also contribute to better health. A wise person must still take necessary precautions when with someone who has an infectious diseases like hepatitis B and C, HIV/AIDS, cold or flu, ebola etcetera. The saliva or nasal secretions can pass these diseases on to another person, while some primarily can be transmitted through sexual contacts, intravenous drug use and transfusion.
We can avoid insect bites by using safety (bed) nets or spraying of insecticides where mosquitoes or other disease-carrying insects are active. Vaccinations can be helpful to prevent some infections too. Make sure you get your children vaccinated, when necessary.
Start now by obeying simple safety laws when working, walking, riding a bicycle, motorcycle, driving a car etc. Use appropriate protective equipments and clothings; such as seat belt, hearing protection, headgear, footwear etc.
Avoid excessive sun exposure which causes cancer and premature aging of the skin. If you smoke, STOP. Quitting now will significantly lower your risk of heart disease, lung cancer and stroke.
** Motivate yourself and others: There are thousands and millions of public and private institutions, even the internet, that can furnish us with simple, less expensive, informations on how to constantly improve on our health and maintain a sanitized environment.
HEALTH IS WEALTH.
