Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town has been appointed lead agency for KFC’s New Africa Markets.
The markets include Niegria where the brand grew exponentially between 2012 and 2014 but has been struggling so much many outlets have had to be shut of recent.
Reports said four of the outlets that has been shut down as a result of the prevailing economic situation in Nigeria include the ones at Ilupeju, Sabo Yaba, Ikeja and Ogba
This development means Ogilvy must have to craft the marketing strategy that will boost traffic to the remaining outlets and probably chart a course for future reopening of the already shut outlets.
But even in the face of this development, O&M Cape Town Managing Director, Luca Gallarelli, says he is thrilled by the chance to do more work across the continent especially on such a significant brand as KFC; “We have been steadily building our capabilities for global and African work and are very excited for this fantastic opportunity with a great client.’’
Ogilvy SA has been a partner of KFC in South Africa for almost 20 years and the Cape Town agency will now, in addition to Nigeria, also manage the brand in Namibia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Uganda, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi.
