Nigerian professor, wife and 2 children die in a house fire in Kazakhstan

Urological Surgeon, Professor Elijah Oladunni Kehinde, together with his wife, Dr Funmilola Ajibona Kehinde, and two children, Mojoyinoluwa and Omolayo, aged 17 years and 8 years, respectively, died in a tragic fire accident in their apartment at Astana, Kazakhstan, at 5 am Friday July 14, 2017.
 
In 2016, the alumnus of the University of Ibadan, accepted the challenge of setting up a top rate Medical School in Kazakhstan, but tragedy struck one year into his tenure.
 
The fire was thought to have originated from an electrical malfunction, and the flame consumed the house even though there were smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
 
He is survived by two older children, Yemisi and Olaitan. Professor Kehinde worked in the School of Medicine, Nazarbayev University, from June 2016. He was an experienced researcher and consultant in the field of urologic surgery with significant administrative experience. He was aged 64
