Man Dies After Engaging In Suitor Flogging Competition To Win His Bride
A certain man Yari Inusa has reportedly died after engaging in a suitor flogging competition in Katsina State.
The sad event occurred in Durmin Biri village, in the Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State, where two suitors engage in a flogging contest to win a bride.
The victim Inusa sustained head injuring which lead to his eventual death during the Fulani traditional game of Sharo with a contested named Ahmed Saidu. The purpose is to seek a strong man suitable to marry the bride in promise.
Ahmed who took the first round of flogging did fine as he did not sustain any serious injuries. Things took a down turn when Ahmed whipped Yari Inusa on his head against the rules of the game causing his death.
The Katsina State Police Command spokesman, DSP Gambo Isah said: “Inusa’s father, Mallam, reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of Saidu.”
