Liz W Kamau was born in Eldoret, a small town in the Rift valley region of Kenya. She was born to a large family and grew up surrounded by brothers and sisters who all enjoyed music.
She developed an interest in music in her early years and grew up listening to the likes of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. She got born again at a Reinhard Bonke school crusade aged seven and started writing songs aged eleven when she made a vow to God to always sing for Him when she grew up. She also always jovially competed with her brother, Moses, to see who could do the best adlibs and imitate other artists.
Liz continued singing in high school choirs and took on a more gospel turn. She was in a girl band back then called ‘Eternal Happiness’ and wrote a few songs too.
She went on to study pharmacy at the university of Manchester eventually registering as a pharmacist. Whilst working as a pharmacist she was actively involved with Jubilee church choir as a Praise Worship leader where her confidence grew and also her walk with God deepened. Eventually the novelty of the pharmacy job wore off and at the same time an opportunity came up for her to do a music production course. She undertook night classes and got trained to be a producer. She set up a mini studio at home and started demoing some of her songs.
Her first debut single was a Swahili song called Sauti. After Sauti, she continued focusing on pharmacy and grabbed opportunities that came her way to further her career. Still, pharmacy was not as fulfilling as her music and she went on to release 'Why I love Jesus'. She later got connected to 'Wole Oni' an award-winning producer who produced the much loved 'love never fails' which talks about a 1 Corinthians 13:7 kind of love.
As well as singing Liz is passionate about modelling. She started modelling after getting connected to fashion designer friends who wanted her to model for their collections. This led to different opportunities arising. Liz made up her mind to model clothing that allows women to be beautiful, glamorous, classy and yet modest, giving glory to God.
Liz has now fully given herself to be used by God in whatever capacity he deems fit and she continues to focus on her music ministry. She is currently recording her album, which will be out towards the end of 2015. 'Why I love Jesus' remains her favourite song because it speaks of the tremendous love that God the Father displayed and price that Jesus paid for the freedom of all humanity on the cross at Calvary.
