History has been made in the West African country of Liberia as a former footballer turned politician Senator George Tawlon Manneh Oppong Ousman Weah wins presidential elections. He will take over the reins of power from President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Senator George Weah has won the presidential elections in his country Liberia. George Weah was an AC Milan forward and a former Ballon D'or winner in 1995.

George Weah emerged winner in a well contested race for the highest office in the country. The former footballer turned politician was up against opponents like Boakai Joseph Nyuma, Brumskine Charles Walker, Cummings Alexander B., Johnson Prince Y., etc.
