Elections shift: My fear for Jonathan, by Obasanjo

By  |  49 Comments
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has spoken of his fears for and President Goodluck Jonathan, following the postponement of the general elections. Obasanjo, who was in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, to present his 1,500-page autobiography My Watch, which has been banned in Nigeria pending libel hearings, was quoted by Financial Times  as saying that “the signs are not auspicious” in the wake of the six-week postponement of the polls. He added: “I don’t know whether a script is being played.” The presidential election was slated for next Saturday, but the Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC) shifted it following the memoranda from security chiefs that they could not guarantee security for the elections because of their engagement against insurgency in the northeast. The delay should also enable Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to be distributed to the millions of voters yet to receive them and who were at risk of being disenfranchised, according to chair Prof. Attahiru Jega. Obasanjo said: “I sincerely hope that the president is not going for broke and saying ‘look dammit, it’s either I have it or nobody has it’. I hope that we will not have a…I hope we can avoid it.” Speaking on whether he would like to return to politics Obasanjo was quoted in the interview as saying: “I am an old man and I’m enjoying what I’m doing now… And then you forget I am a farmer; I have to manage my farm.” For the first time, Obasanjo openly supported All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Gen Muhammadu . “The circumstances (Buhari) will be working under if he wins the electionare different from the one he worked under before (as a military Head of State) where he was both the executive and the legislature — he knows that.  He’s smart enough. He’s educated enough. He’s experienced enough. Why shouldn’t I support him?” Source: The Nation

Whatever the case maybe, may the best candidate win. A candidate that has the Nation’s affair at heart. Not the one that will make things harder for the masses

Nigeria has always been the perfect stage for political dramas and what is happening today is no exception. With the way and manner Baba (OBJ) has been sending out subtle messages, its obvious the PDP is now a sinking ship whose desperate captain is struggling to keep it afloat – but will he succeed? I see Baba (OBJ) cross-carpeting once APC dethrones the ruling party at the centre. Even though he hasn’t come out to categorically declare it, his body language is pointing towards that direction. Whew….students of politics who want to understudy the practical display of politics must find Nigeria a very interesting ground to do that!

My fear is not about the shift in election date, It’s about the president drawing the military into Nigerian politics as part of his desperation to win in a do-or-die election. When did the responsibility of providing security for an election becomes the constitutional right of the military? If the military cannot guarantee the security of Nigeria and Nigerians in February, How are we sure of their security in March?

Finally, I’m happy someone is seeing what I’m seeing! God bless you, this is critical and people and not really concern. Hmm Military Rule…… That’s what we should watch and pray against! Jona’s heart is now hardened…… Wondering why ppl can’t see what’s going on

Am not a fan of any political party, but i dnt want broda jona to be nigerian president again. He has done nothing 4 us nd has nothing to offer, his time only favours dose bad leaders keeping our money inside soakaway. If god wants me to demand for just 1 thing, i’ll tel god to let mr jona sleep nd wake up to resign coz i hate seing dat man, he dosent knw dat nigerians are suffering.

APC has been consistent in saying that PDP has
    ruled
Nigeria for 16 disastrous years in which corruption,
impunity, insurgency, armed robbery and several ills
of society held sway. But at a very close look at the
    APC, I am seeing: 1)Rotimi Amaechi – 8 years
speaker; 7 year, Governor under PDP. 2)Atiku
Abubakar – 8 years Vice president under PDP. 3)
George Akume – 8 years Governor under PDP. 4)
Bukola Saraki – 8 years Governor; 2 years, Senator
under PDP. 5)Timipre Sylver – 4 years Governor
under PDP. 6)Audu Ogbe – 2 years National
Chairman of the PDP. 7)Aminu Masari – 4 years as
the Speaker, House of Representativesunder PDP. 8)
Chris Ngige – 3 years Governor under PDP. 9)Rabiu
Kwankwaso – 7 years Governor; 3 years Defense
minister under PDP. 10)El Rufai – 4 years FCT
    Minister;
2 years BPE Chairman under PDP. 11)Tambuwal-3ye
ars as Speaker House of Reps under PDP; and to cap
it all, Obasanjo is tVhe navigtor of the APC, a man
who spent 8 of the disastrous 16 years as the
maximum ruler of Nigeria. It is now clear that APC is
a waste basket of the PDP, where the people who
created and perpetuated the 16 disastrous years are
now dumped. So where is the change coming from?
Are they now saints because they joined APC?Pls be
WISE & VOTE not for those seeking power by force :-
ASSOCIATION OF PAST CRIMINALS (APC )
