Glaberima “when cooking is a tasteful poem”
It is war
A kitchen full of hungry guest
An audience of folks ready for experience in the physical sense
You sweat, bleed, love, and hate
It is sharing
In the most obvious state
Of emotion garnished on the plate
It is satisfaction
Glaberima the botanical name of our much acclaimed Ofada rice gives this weeks’ discovery uniqeness,
this culinary artiste was forged in the fires of the not so glam backyards of the glamorous “Lagos Party Kitchen”, a humbling start up story, doing the dishes, slicing ingredients, serving the guest as a faceless and some worth nameless service mannequin. “King Glab
” never felt less or deterred by the struggle during this formative undergraduate years at the “Prestigious” University of Lagos
, where learning, swag, gadgets and celebrity level glitterati held sway. Funny how this would play out, but our discovery of the week
is not a woman, but he’s definitely got panache, zest, guts of steel and lots of passion for the tasteful art of cooking.
In His words, “Never despise the days of humble beginnings says the speaker, but how can a 21st century youth who is full of life, vibrant and adventurous be humble in this world of social media
craze, to be or not to be?”
My interest in cooking is compared to none and like most success stories I started off with nothing to the extent that all the money I make during the weekends after serving and washing dishes at events I would still use to make food for anyone around in my hall of residence for free. Little did I know I was planting a seed for my tree of passion.
In my third year, I won the first position prize in the maiden edition of University of Lagos business plan competition sponsored by Stanbic Bank and ever since then “King Glab
” my pet name has been on repeat on everyone's lips.
Now in my own words, “King Glab
” caught our spot light while we were globetrotting the vastness of creativity in this talent infested Eden called Lagos, Nigeria and voila a particularly very sexy Diva told us about the eternal bursts of flavors and awesomeness dubbed “Glaberima
” she had been under the spell for a few weeks after discovering him on Instagram and went after the food maestros prowess and hasn’t recovered since. I am eager to put this computer away as I go in on some of this culinary prophets offering before me. Don’t take my word for it; find our taste monsters lair at the Campus car park, opposite Moremi hall, University of Lagos. Lest I forget, meet our Discovery of the week, the dazzler of taste pallets, the prophet of flavor, the taste juggernaut himself “Kiiiiiiiing Glab
” aka ANIFOWOSE, SEGUN JOHNSON. You definitely want to know more about him, find him on social media on these handles:
